I am extremely tired right now, but I will try to remember everything. :-) I hope I don't go into too much detail; let me know if I do.
I left off at Cleveland Hopkins. (I did take a picture of the awesome guitar, by the way.) I eventually got on the flight to Dulles. It was a small, squeezey airplane, but the flight was much shorter than I expected it to be. The person next to me must've been a college student; he looked like he was studying Chemistry or something. I never asked him. Bummer.
When I arrived at Dulles, I met someone named Emily who had been on the flight, and who also was in my class and going to Austria. It was good to know I hadn't been alone. We took the tunnel trains to the gate, where our next flight would pick us up and take us to Vienna. A lot of people I already knew were already waiting there.
Everything went smoother than I anticipated. My carry-on was not questioned, and it fit into the overhead bin nicely. I was pretty much in the back of the plane. Friends were only just within my proximity, which was a bummer. It wasn't a student-only flight as I had first thought. I ended up sitting next to a Russian man who couldn't speak English.
I thought it was interesting that, even though we couldn't speak each others' language, we could still nod or smile at each other and communicate without words. Language does not humanity make. :-)
So, it was an 8 hour flight. I stayed up for the entirety of it. I got plenty of orange juice and water (and a little white wine, lol...) and got fed a fantastic dinner (chicken with a potato pie cake thing. Yum!).
I tried a variety of things to pass the time. I tried watching "Beauty and the Beast" in German, but it got annoying. I played some of the games they had to offer, but most of them were choppy (and evilly difficult in some cases... especially the Putt-putt golf!). I listened to classical music, but eventually I got tired of that, too. I tried to sleep, but the plane and surroundings were too loud.
After a cool breakfast (banana muffin, with a ham and swiss sandwich!) we finally landed in Vienna. All of my luggage shipped! :-) We headed over to a large bus and got shipped to Gaming, with a Franciscan sister pointing out cool sights along the way.
We got dropped off in Gaming, where a bunch of young children greeted us with orange flowers. It was pretty awesome. :-) My luggage was on another bus that would come later, so in the meantime, I brought my backpack up to the room. Storm is my roommate, which rocks, as usual.
I then went over to the "Mensa", where we will be getting our meals. For lunch, they served meaty spaghetti. It was pretty good, though the style seemed different... it was kind of cool. :-)
I slept for something like 15 minutes (I was starting to get drowsy at this point), went to Confession, and then went to Mass. The church is amazing looking! I am not sure when I am allowed to take pictures; I will if I can!
Then, dinner (roast beef and some meaty thing filled with veggies). Then, a talk by the head of the Austria program here in Gaming, where he encouraged us to let God lead the experiences. Then, a brief social event, complete with different-tasting Fanta and awesome cookies.
And now, I am writing this. :-) It has been more than 24 hours since I have hugged Mom goodbye, and I haven't had much sleep, so I am going to go do that now...
I hope I haven't bored you out, but I wanted to get everything down. I will set up pictures soon! :-D
